Outlook constantly prompts for password – Microsoft Community.Outlook keeps prompting for password – Microsoft Community

Let’s create a new profile following instructions mentioned in the article below, configure the email accounts and verify the result. Reply with necessary information and the result to help you further. Thank you. I have recently set up my college email account on Outlook After I finish setting up the account, I would constantly get a pop up named Internet Email and in this pop up is my user name and password.

Although it is already filled in, it keeps popping up and I have to click ok several times before Outlook synchronizes with the college email account. I don’t know what software program is generating this popup but I have had this come up before.

I am running Windows 10 Build I worked with a tech rep from Wave Broadband for some time and he verified that my email ID and password were both correct. I have removed my email account and re-added it two or three times. The popup finally disappeared this was 3 or 4 months ago.

My email has been working with no problems until about a week or so ago. The popup reappeared and has been a virtual pain in the neck. After a lot of searching and superb help from my Exchange provider I found a resolution to my problem by deleting a couple of invalid autodiscover registry entries. I changed Exchange providers about 5 months ago but the problem only cropped up after the November Office Update where the Crednetials for my old service provider kept coming back. Was this reply helpful?

Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. This setting for the old computers’ during exchange mailbox setup was ” NTLM Authentication “, and the new computers which the users migrated to had this setting automatically set to ” Basic Authentication “.

If you have any wish to futureproof your Exchange configuration, please follow my directions above. You didn’t mention about what version of exchange you were using, but I assumed or higher, which introduced AutoDiscover and the ability of Exchange to populate the settings for every client so that you don’t have to do it yourself. Just want to add that if your office client network setup is such that yu can connect via physical network cable to office LAN , and also to another alternative source of internet via wireless.

The few machines I have checked, win 10 have not had any creds in the cred manager for outlook. There are quite a number of machines that are not having this issue as well which makes me feel like it is a local issue and not a server side setting. Sorry gentlemen. Same issue.

Never used to be for 2 years now. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Fumbled with this about a week now. Thanks Spicers thumbs up. This is an old issue that Microsoft fails to fix since inception but don’t just reset your password because its saying it doesn’t know its not the fix.

No its not an expired password its a bug with exchange that microcrap has failed to resolve in 4 years. Looks to me as though it was gmail insisting that it be reset to allow less secure apps Outlook access to gmail. In gmail settings online I turned ON “Allow less secure apps to access Orbis Solutions is an IT service provider. This topic has been locked by an administrator and is no longer open for commenting.

Is there any improvement if you try a different network environment out of your organization? How many users have the same issue in your organization?

Any update is appreciated. Regards, Alan. Prior to submitting this I’ve cleared all the credentials in the credential manager but that did not seem to help.

Creating a new Outlook profile on a different PC seemed to work ok. May open an Office ticket to get this resolved a bit quicker as I am only that the office every Monday for a few hours. If you don’t the tenant information, please involve the global admin of your organization into this thread to provide the tennat information. Please follow the link below to respond to it:. It’s strange. I just did a complete removal of Office , cleared the credentials again in the credential manager and re-installed Office from her Office portal but it’s still prompting for the credentials when opening Outlook.

If I click cancel it disappears and Outlook connects to Exchange without and problems but it shouldn’t be prompting. I can see the entry in the credential manager as well.
